In This Time (shorts): Episode 2 - On The Move

Change is often the most constant ingredient in life's soup. For the MWendo-Joseph family, it was time for a new chapter. Ashanti and Ayo decided to move back East, completing Ayo's research grant in Arizona.

Ayo envisioned working at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in his STEM research. Ashanti, as CEO of Uwazi, had the flexibility to work remotely, presenting a great opportunity for them.

Their children, Caleb and Carmel, both finished high school at sixteen. But their paths diverged. Caleb decided college wasn't for him, opting instead to improve his coding skills through online classes and invest in his startup. Ashanti and Ayo trusted his judgment and supported his decision.

Carmel, however, chose Howard University, an HBCU, inspired by its notable alumni, including the first female Vice President of the United States. She planned to study sustainable design, advocating for eco-friendly, culturally reflective, and affordable housing.

The family found a house in D.C. near Howard, perfect for their needs, including space for their two rescued Beagles, Uno and Duos. While Carmel could have commuted, her parents encouraged her to make her own choices, wanting her to navigate independence on her own. This move wasn't just a change of address; it was a shift into new roles, new dreams, and new challenges.

New city, new dreams! Have you ever made a big life move? Share your most significant leap of faith!
