In This Time (Shorts): Episode 5 – San Antonio and the Riverwalk
Tacos and unexpected tours! The MWendo-Joseph family explores San Antonio, from the Riverwalk to virtual reality. Experience culture, connection, and canine antics in In This Time!
After a long first day of driving, morning arrived sooner than expected. Ayo, ever the early riser, started preparing a varied breakfast for the family, waking them up with the sounds of pots and pans. Caleb's rush to the public bathroom, triggered by a full RV, brought a bit of morning chaos.
Today's plan: explore San Antonio. With Uno and Duos in tow, the Riverwalk became their primary focus since dogs were allowed there. The Alamo, nearby, could wait for another visit. The family arrived at the scenic Riverwalk, ready for lunch.
At a Mexican restaurant by the river, Carmel and Caleb surprised everyone by speaking fluent Spanish with their server. They effortlessly ordered food, asking about spicy tacos and onion-free enchiladas. The server, impressed, also recommended the Go Rio River Cruise and Hemisfair Park for the dogs.)
After a walk and playtime at Hemisfair Park, the family went on a river cruise. Guides shared engaging stories about the city's landmarks, such as La Villita and Selena's Bridge 38, highlighting San Antonio's rich cultural blend.
While Ayo and Carmel relaxed with the dogs, Ashanti and Caleb visited the Alamo. Caleb found it overwhelming due to the crowds. Later, Carmel chose a virtual tour with her VR headset back at the RV. Despite feeling exhausted, dinner that night was filled with learning and a declaration from Carmie: she'd beat everyone at Backgammon!
